Maddi - Namesake

Maddi is our wonderful granddaughter! When thinking of 'cool' ranch names, Maddi's name immediately came to me. She loves horses and loves coming to the ranch. Watching her groom the horses and ride her pony gives me much pleasure. She probably gets along with the horses because she is so much like them. She is very kind, gentle but assertive, smart and beautiful. She's very athletic, skiing black diamond runs right after she turned 4! Associating her name with the ranch brings an extra smile to my face and heart and hers...Maddi's Friesian Ranch.

I'm very fortunate to have found the passion of Maddi's Friesian Ranch and our magnificent Friesian horses. After battling (and winning) a long and debilitating illness, I knew it was time to create an energizing and personally rewarding chapter in my life. Getting back into the horse world was the natural choice. With some great friends and meeting incredible people along the way, we are creating a breeding and import business that offers many choices for the Friesian enthusiast. My previous career was in the high tech industry. There I started many award winning worldwide customer service organizations, from Technical Support, Engineering Support, Professional Services to Education. It's with these same customer service/satisfaction ideals that Maddi's Friesian Ranch is built on. I know that finding your Friesian is not only a dream, but an investment; an investment that you will be happy with long after your Friesian comes home with you from Maddi's Friesian Ranch.

Horses have been in my life since my first memories. I grew up trail riding and working cattle on my family's ranch. Growing up in Auburn, my passion for riding in the wilderness evolved into endurance riding, which I did throughout my 20's.

In 1986 I was given the opportunity to lease an equestrian facility east of Carson City, and in September of that year a partner and I opened Brunswick Canyon Ranch, catering to the English Horse. While there I helped found the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the California Dressage Society which continues to foster dressage in the area. From that time until our barn's closure in 1993, I taught jumping and dressage, competing extensively in both, and was a member of the Red Rock Hounds hunt club, taking many clients out to participate in that exciting sport.

When the barn closed, I began specializing in dressage; teaching and training at a number of local barns. By then, I had spent a number of months at DG Bar Ranch as a working student for Willy Arts. I continue to clinic with Willy and also with Volker Brommen and Margaret Brickenhauser, both from Germany.

I have a bachelors degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and live in Gardnerville with my husband, horses, dogs, cat and chickens. Currently I have a 9 year old dutch warmblood I am riding at fourth level and a 3 year old dutch warmblood that I started this summer and will be showing first level in 2008.

My commitment to the well-being of the horse and the correctness of training has always been and will continue to be my number one priority.

Born in and raised in the Carson Valley, I have been around horses all my life. As a young girl I was a member of the local pony club, Silver State Pony Club, and competed at the local hunter/jumper shows. In 1999, I started competing in 3-Day Eventing. Under the coaching of Kristi Nunnink I competed from novice to preliminary. Then, in the fall of 2004, I began riding and showing in dressage shows. At this time I also developed a love for starting young horses and showing them the ropes of the show circuit. Now, alongside of showing dressage, I also have become a new face at the Friesian shows.
